About Robert P

I have been playing the pipes, the "great" Gaelic bagpipes of Ireland and Scotland, for over forty years. I specialize in traditional Irish music, of the same sort played by traditional Irish musicians on other instruments; I also teach music in the closely related Scottish style, and general music as appropriate for the pipes.

I have a proven ability to develop dedicated students from absolute beginners to pipers capable of playing a number of tunes on full sets of pipes within ten months. I also asist students who wish to revive previously abandonned piping dreams and accomplished pipers who wish to broaden their musical horizons, especially relative to authentic traditional music.

Traditional music in the Irish and Scottish styles has grown immensely in popularity in recent years among people who appreciate it's ancient authenticity. This is especially so when that music is played on the bagpipes, one of most evocative of instruments.

About the lesson

I employ a method of teaching which includes combination of aural instructions and the use of written music. This is a very effective way of quickly teaching traditional music such as piping to students who may not previously had familiarity with this specialized genre.

I work with students of all ages and levels of experience.

I am the Piping Instructor for the Kellenberg Memorial High School "Firebird Pipers" Band. Eight of our students who began learning just eight short months ago made their public debut with us piping at the Kellenberg Golf Outing in June, 2018.
