About Mike
Pilot since 2002 with a wide range of experience including many years flying for pleasure in the NJ / NYC area. Several flights to Oshkosh EAA AirVenture and a few XC flights to ferry airplanes around the United States. Experienced part 141 / 61 flight instructor, I've trained pilots from around the world.
Seeing my student's succeed! I know that my work as a flight instructor has a profound impact on my student's lives. I know that making just one pilot will affect generations to come.
Certified Flight Instructor CFI, CFII, High Performance (+200HP) Complex (retractable landing gear, flaps and constant speed propeller).
Cessna 172, 182RG and Cirrus SR20 proficient. Piper Cherokee / Arrow experienced.
Emergency maneuver trained along with basic acrobatics.

First ground session:
Note: There will seem to be a lot of information at the start, but with time, things will become easier.
Review overall goals of the student.
Review Student ID and submit for TSA check if needed.
Provide an overview of the training process.
Endorse student logbook for ID check.
Provide an overview of the operating environment (airport operations, airspace intro, emergency procedures, transfer of control, my job, your job as a student and schedules.)
Provide guidance on the FAA Medical process (MedExpress)
Provide home study guides.
Provide an overview of the airplane and it’s systems at a basic level.
First flight:
Introduction to pilot briefing.
Introduction to performance planning (weight and balance and TOD card)
Introduction to required inspections and documents.
Introduction to preflight checks and checklist usage.
Introduction to cockpit setup (seat adjustment, safety equipment and communications.)
Review emergency procedures.
Review transfer of control procedures.
Introduction to engine startup procedures using the checklist.
Introduction to ATC clearances and weather.
Introduction to Taxi briefings and operations.
Introduction to engine and avionics checks.
Introduction to normal takeoff and normal climb procedures.
Introduction to:
Constant airspeed climbs
Constant rate climbs.
Straight and level flight.
Use of trim.
Energy management.
Traffic and weather awareness
Turns (use of rudder)
Constant rate descents
Constant airspeed descents
(Optional) Introduction to slow flight.
Introduction to airport pattern operations.
Introduction to normal approach speeds and configurations
Introduction to normal landing
Review taxi operations.
Introduction to post flight inspection.
Introduction to securing aircraft operations.
Introduction to HOBBS and TAC time records.
Post flight debrief.
Update student records and logbook.
