About

I truly believe in an unabridged education that highlights the interconnectedness of the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. At Pomona College, I study Anthropology, Russian, and Eastern European Studies on a pre-med track. I currently hold a 3.9 GPA and have conducted immunology research at Duke University Medical School.

I am a confident tutor in Anthropology, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, Beginner French, Beginner Russian, and English Literature.

My approach to education and tutoring is grounded in a unique motivation to bring current issues affecting real communities to the forefront of disciplines. I have applied this in my own education through human rights work in Uzbekistan, as editor-in-chief of the Claremont Journal of Medicine and Social Justice, and coordinating a homeless employment program through my college.

Students often lose their love of learning when they do not see the meaningful application of the material. I believe that by encouraging students to contextualize their subject content in real-world issues, they will be more motivated to critically engage with the material and the world around then.

As a first-generation college student, I greatly struggled with my academics growing up. At 14 I began working with a tutor who entirely changed my outlook on both myself and my educational abilities. The privilege of seeing another student redevelop their confidence with academics, and then that confidence leading to actualized dreams is what I enjoy the most about my work.

Current 3rd-year student at Pomona College. I have taken a year of college biology and physics courses, and a year and a half of chemistry courses.

About the lesson

I begin first by asking the student what their short term and long term educational goals are, current associations with academics, and how I can best support them in my role. I then observe and ask questions about the student's current approach to the material whether it be an essay, problem set, or general studying. I then take notes on the strengths and areas of growth in their work process to develop a comprehensive learning plan highlighting future steps for improvement.

This comprehensive learning plan (provided to both students and parents) includes goals for every session centered both around content and approach to learning.
