About Jessica
Hi I'm Jess. I recently graduated from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) with a MFA in acting. I have been performing in the theatre for over 15 years and have 5 years experience with film and tv. Having studied voice and speeach as a part of my acting programs, I have extensive knowledge of the International Phoenetic Alphabet (IPA) and can also help with accent reduction, and vocal resonance.
A huge part of my training as an actor consisted of various forms of movement including african dance and T'ai Chi Ch'uan. I am currently a Karate instructor, but I have also taught T'ai chi and dance fitness.
During my graduate studies, I began teaching theatre to ESL students at a middle school. After graduating I continued teaching in Afterschool Programs, everything from acting to yoga and science, and no currently teach Karate at a Dojo.
Graduated from a performing arts high school. Received a BFA in Theatre Arts and a Master's in Acting. I'm also a brown belt in Karate and have had years of training in Dance and movement.

Take some time to get to know them, their interests and goals. Create a vision board so that we know what were working towards in these lessons. If it's acting I'll start with the voice and the body. Becoming in touch with one's own self. Releasing the blocks and allowing the armor to fall so that we can become open vessels. We would then move into scene study. Breaking down a scene, looking at the different beats, shifts, and objectives. I'm flexible in changing my approach to fit the needs of the student.
K-8 mostly but also have had adult students.
Find someone you truly vibe with. Make sure that they are offering a safe space for you to openly express yourself. That's where the good stuff happens. In the moments where we feel most vulnearble.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Set some clear goals for yourself, daily, monthly, yearly. Be able to express any fears as well as desires.
