About Kyla
I'm a middle school teacher in Bakersfield, CA, teaching at a private school. This year marks my 17th year in the classroom, and I have loved every minute of it! I get excited to share a new story with my students, and I also love to unlock the mystery of good writing. I am a huge reader--reading everything from current non-fiction statements on our culture to dystopian fiction, my favorite genre.

A tutoring session will include addressing the learning need. Students will learn writing strategies to address the current need. Good writing has a pattern that can be learned, and I will impart the pieces of that picture through practice and example. Grammar is learned through reading and writing, but it, too, has a pattern. Students can receive engaging lessons on how to write rhetoric, narrative, and poetry.
I have experience teaching Gate and Honors students as well as students learning English as a second language.
