About Jack

I graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Classics before completing my teacher training at King’s College London. I now teach Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation at one of the UK’s leading independent schools, where I work with students across a wide age range and regularly support those applying to Oxford, Cambridge and other highly competitive universities.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have been tutoring for over seven years, helping students from a variety of educational backgrounds achieve their academic goals. I am also involved in coaching and outdoor education, drawing on my experience as a rowing coach and my passion for surfing to bring energy, patience and resilience into my teaching.

About the lesson

I teach exclusively online, allowing lessons to be flexible, convenient and fully personalised to each student. Whether you’re preparing for GCSE, A Level, Common Entrance, university examinations or Oxbridge admissions, every lesson is built around your individual needs, pace and goals.

As a full-time teacher at one of the UK’s leading independent schools, I have extensive experience teaching students of all abilities—from those aiming to build confidence and master the fundamentals to those targeting the very highest grades and competitive university places.

I can teach any prescribed text or specification in Latin, Ancient Greek or Classical Civilisation, adapting to any exam board or school curriculum. I am equally happy supporting students with language work, literature, prose composition, unseen translation, grammar, essay writing, scholarship preparation and interview practice. I also offer tailored Oxbridge admissions support, including personal statements, admissions tests and mock interviews.

My approach is structured, engaging and encouraging. I believe students make the fastest progress when they genuinely understand the material rather than simply memorising it, so I focus on building long-term confidence alongside excellent academic results.
