In bullet form,my typical lesson structure is as follows:
•If 1st lesson,introduce myself and exchange information briefly between myself and the student/s eg:interests,future goals,past achievements etc.
•introduce the topic/s to be covered in the lesson.
•Distribute any extra material/s to the students .
•Students may be asked to read a passage to themselves,listen to a recording or watch a video to obtain information.
•Question time relating to the above,including identifying any unknown vocabulary.
•In pairs,students ask each other questions.
•Change pairs- repeat 3 or 4 times.
•Class discussion about the topic/s.
•Entertainment-eg: music,games,short video etc.
•Question time again,to check students comprehension of the lesson.
•Students will be asked to write an assessment of the lesson and hand it to me.It will be corrected by me and returned to the students at the next lesson.
•As each student completes their written work it is handed in and they will be given a fun exercise handout to keep them occupied until the others have completed their work,or they can do s/th of their own choice (excluding electronic devices!).
•The lesson is normally finished in a lighthearted and happy manner,such as with a game or music or a fun video clip or jokes or stories from the students.
•High 5’s all round and see you all next lesson.
