About Josh
In addition to four years as a Community College tutor and one year as an independent online tutor, I graduated with a degree in natural sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2023 with a 3.8 GPA. This degree program allows students to select a science-based subject of emphasis along with supplemental courses. My emphasis was on statistics, which I developed a passion for at Pitt. I ultimately turned that passion into a podcast, NBA Retrospective, where I chronicled past NBA seasons from a statistical standpoint. Therefore, I feel very confident that I can help you particularly with statistics courses.

My tutoring approach is simple: work hard with you until you get it. We are in it together. I focus on individualized attention, not meeting an arbitrary time standard. If you need longer to go over something, so be it. I once had a student at community college who I’ll call Jim. Jim got so frustrated with algebra 1 that he threw his textbook out the window. Yet, I spent hours with Jim week after week in the college tutoring center, and he eventually passed algebra 1 and moved on to a University program. While in college, I took several statistics courses and developed a passion for it, so I tutor students in stats all the time and I'm confident I can help you there. I have tutored students from ages 12-66, so, whether you’re in high school and struggling with algebra for the first time or you’re back in school after a long layoff and haven’t seen math or statistics in a while, I can help you.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you understand the material well enough to get to your next step, whether that’s earning a passing grade in high school, completing a gen-ed requirement for college, or indulging personal interest. While you will find tutors with greater academic credentials than me, remember the quote I heard from Minnesota football coach PJ Fleck: “nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” Advanced credentials of a tutor will not make you a better student.
