About Amanda
Hi, I'm a special education teacher with 15 years of experience working with students from kindergarten through 8th grade. I've supported learners with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, dyslexia, and other learning challenges. My true passion lies in teaching reading, and I am trained in the Science of Reading—a research-based approach that shows how the brain learns to read and what struggling readers need to succeed. Over the years, I’ve helped countless students build foundational reading skills using structured, explicit, and multisensory instruction. I know how to identify skill gaps, design effective interventions, and adapt my teaching to meet the unique needs of each learner. I use a calm, patient approach to build trust and confidence while helping students make real, lasting progress. As a tutor, I bring not only expertise but also a deep commitment to helping each child feel seen, supported, and successful. I believe all students can become confident readers when given the right tools and encouragement. I’m based in Newberg and offer tutoring to families in the surrounding area—both in-person and virtually. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate reading tutor who understands how to help your child thrive, I’d love to connect.

With 15 years of experience as a special education teacher and formal training in the Science of Reading, I specialize in helping struggling readers build strong foundational skills. I use proven, research-based methods to close skill gaps, improve fluency, and boost confidence. I tailor each lesson to meet the unique learning needs of every student—whether they’re just starting to decode words or need support with comprehension.
I don’t just teach kids to read—I teach them to believe in themselves as readers. If your child needs structured, effective, and compassionate reading support, I’m here to help them them thrive.
