I have known Melissa for over 25 years as a friend and field hockey teammate. We reconnected once we both had children of school age. She was my sons Extended School Year teacher. My son is special needs and at that time had a limited vocabulary and struggled with school routine. Melissa was able to immediately connect with him, establish a working relationship, and make valuable progress with him. By the time school started back up in the fall my son had not regressed and was ready to take on the new year. I contribute much of this to Melissa's empathetic and kind nature, and the excitement she brings to learning!

Melissa is a phenomenal teacher! Our son, whom we adopted, had fallen deeply behind in his education pathway due to personal circumstances. When it came time to accelerate his learning process and get him current in material, beyond what we could do at home on our own, Melissa was able to focus on topics being covered in school and took the time with our son to get him to a point of understanding. She was extremely patient, controlled, present, and knowledgeable on current education practices and the curriculum for his grade level. We had actually moved him into a private school where she continued to help him excel outside of the classroom. He now continues to attend a highly-acclaimed private college-preparatory high school where he has excelled because Melissa was able to provide a solid foundation of concepts and material. He would not be an “A” student at this difficult school without her help and methods. I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone, whether they require special attention or not, as she is understanding of the entire education process and really takes the time with her students to ensure their success.
