About Dr NICHOLA

I commenced my career as a nurse in critical and trauma care in 1989 and worked to a senior level over the next 14 years. I have been working for a Russell Group University undertaking teaching and research for 15 years. I teach, supervise and support students from all disciplines within healthcare. My specialist areas are critical, acute, emergency and trauma care. My students achieve high marks for assignments and dissertations at under and postgraduate studies. I have successfully supervised students to distinction in postgraduate research and supervise PhD students in health care. I also work as a national expert.

About the lesson

I believe that to stimulate and harness a student's enthusiasm is the key to their success and this is possible in all students with an excellent consistent, approachable and supportive tutor. I feel that supporting a student to explore their own learning styles, encouraging exploration, critical appraisal and evaluation of their own practices, those within health care and the evidence surrounding a topic, can develop the inquiry-based learning required in healthcare leadership and innovation. I actively support leadership in research and education from all healthcare disciplines and therefore, by providing a respectful and professional learning environment catering to all abilities, the tutor can bring out the best in every student, broadening their horizons and developing their courage. I offer support for presentations, competency development, assignments, personal statements and interview, poster and report writing, academic and professional presentations. I have also assisted in article development for publication.
