About Samantha

I'm a highly experienced maths teacher and tutor and have excellent subject knowledge at both GCSE and A level. I'm friendly, easy-going and get excellent results through building good relationships with my students. The sessions I run are specifically designed for each individual student. This takes into account the level they are currently working at, target grade, their areas for development and preferred learning style. At GCSE and A level I build into each session past exam questions, including problem-solving questions using the techniques learnt in the lesson. I am happy to set homework questions to build upon the skills covered and will mark and give feedback on any work completed. In addition, I provide a plan of work to be covered for the term/year after consulting with students and parents. I have been a maths teacher for 28 years in different secondary schools throughout the West Midlands and South Yorkshire. My roles within school have been varied and include head of maths and lead practitioner. In addition, I have also spent part of my career as a maths advisor within the school improvement sector, developing teaching and learning in a range of secondary schools. I keep up to date with all the recent changes in GCSE and A level maths. Being forced to work at home during lockdown has meant a change in my working practices. I have had the opportunity to develop my online teaching at KS3, GCSE and A level with positive feedback from my students and their parents. I am able to use a variety of learning platforms through which to teach the lesson, making the most of technology to model any of the topics being studied. This year I have become an examiner for GCSE maths and as a result, I have gained a greater understanding of exam techniques University : - University of Liverpool - BA Hons in Maths and Music [3rd class]

About the lesson

Maths teacher at Stafford. By building students' confidence, this leads to improved results. I start by identifying gaps in subject knowledge and initial lessons will be spent building these skills. I also work alongside any topics currently being covered by the student in school to give extra practice
