About Juan
I began playing saxophone at the age of 8 and continued studying and performing through high school and college. I attended a music-focused high school, where I performed regularly and developed a strong foundation in classical saxophone. I later continued studying music in college.
During my college years, I also worked with younger saxophone students from my former high school and local schools in one-on-one lessons. That experience helped me realize how much I enjoy helping individual students improve, build confidence, and understand their instrument.
My strongest areas are technique, tone production, music reading, rhythm, and helping students develop solid practice habits. I teach any saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone), and I am especially comfortable working with beginners, school band students, and intermediate players who want more personalized support.
My goal is to create a patient, encouraging learning environment where students can grow at their own pace while building skills that will stay with them throughout their musical journey.

My lessons are designed for beginner and intermediate saxophone players, including students who are new to the instrument, currently enrolled in school band, or looking for additional one-on-one support.
I focus on building strong fundamentals, including proper posture, embouchure, breathing, tone production, articulation, rhythm, scales, music reading, and practice habits. I believe that developing good technique early helps students become more confident and makes playing more enjoyable.
A typical lesson begins with warmups and tone exercises, followed by technique or reading work tailored to the student’s level. We then apply those skills to concert band music, lesson book material, or pieces the student is interested in learning.
My teaching approach is patient, encouraging, and personalized. Every student learns differently, so I adjust lessons based on their goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. My goal is not only to help students play better, but to help them understand their instrument and feel proud of their progress.
