About Eliza
As a literature analysis-geek and avid reader, I love to help people express their views on a piece of writing with utmost clarity and potency. I can help at any stage of the writing or reading process, from crafting an argument and making outlines to final edits.
I have several years of experience tutoring younger children (elementary through 6th grade) in reading, helping them catch up with their peers, and have two years of fiction and poetry workshop experience. I love to read and write both fiction and poetry, and would be thrilled to offer constructive feedback for fellow creative writers!

My goal is to help students communicate their thoughts and feelings about a piece of literature in the most clear, concise, and convincing way. Similar deal with creative pieces, too--but with an emphasis on personal/artistic expression! I want to help young writers find their voice in the way that I was guided to find mine.
I am a huge proponent of outlining, as it's a way of proving to students that they DO know where they're going with an argument, and DO have plenty to say in support of it. The pre-first-draft panic totally dissipates when you can look at a map of exactly how to get to the end goal, so the writing process is less stressful and more (dare we say it!) fun! creative! exploratory!
I start sessions with a conversation about the text, asking the student a few pointed questions and taking notes on their response to form a rough outline for the two of us. In short, we then work on refining it and bulking it up with evidence to create a clear roadmap to the literature-paper equivalent of a mic-drop.
