About Laura

Hello! I’m Laura, a qualified British teacher with four years of classroom and tutoring experience. I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have taught a wide range of learners in both the UK and internationally. My lessons are structured, supportive, and focused on achieving real progress through clear goals and engaging activities. I believe every student deserves a teacher who listens, adapts, and brings out their best. I take pride in creating lessons that build not just academic skills, but also confidence and a genuine love of learning. When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me at the theatre, a concert, or anywhere I can enjoy live performance and a bit of creativity. I also love watching Formula 1 and documentaries on Netflix.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-centred, encouraging, and structured around each learner’s individual needs. I believe learning should be engaging and empowering, helping students build not only skills but also confidence and independence. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, areas for improvement, and learning preferences. From there, I adapt my lessons to suit their pace, using interactive methods such as games, visual resources, and real-world examples to make learning meaningful and memorable. I focus heavily on building understanding rather than memorisation, helping students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. My lessons typically last 50 to 60 minutes, depending on the learner’s age and attention span. I always include a warm-up, targeted teaching segment, and time to practise and reflect on what we’ve learned. I’m a qualified British primary school teacher with four years of classroom experience and additional private tutoring experience. I’ve taught across the primary age range, specialising in English, phonics, and mathematics following the British curriculum. My lessons are best suited for primary-aged learners (ages 5–11) who are looking to strengthen their core skills, build confidence in English and maths, or catch up with schoolwork in a supportive, enjoyable environment.
