About Li-Zhen
I am a lawyer by day and a private tutor by night. I am a second-generation immigrant, so I grew up in a non-English speaking family at home. I didn’t have the privilege of a 1-to-1 tutor until I started casual work in high school. Furthermore, I knew teachers don’t bite but I was afraid to ask questions in primary school without embarrassing myself or feeling dumb.
While I didn’t have a tutor, my parents provided the best resources I could self-teach new maths terms and problem-solving skills. The more I knew, the more logical I became digesting problem-solving questions helping other students. With this in mind, I want to work with you to build your understanding and confidence in Maths in a safe learning environment.

Algebra, geometry, statistics or timetables etc. There is no one category too hard once you find the right formula. School maths may seem daunting, overwhelming, and even impossible to be accomplished. I ensure lessons are broken into bite-size pieces before taking the next leap!
I use simple language and visual examples to explain hard maths rules. I prioritise process-driven strategies for effective understanding and retention. I listen and engage with your own interpretation to empower and build confidence in your maths knowledge and problem-solving skills.
