About Ka Yao
I am a practicing lawyer in Malaysia, and I bring to my tutoring not just textbook knowledge but real, hands-on experience from handling actual cases in court. This means I can explain not only what the law says, but how a judge applies a precedent in real life, where facts are messy and arguments are contested. I want to teach because law is my passion, and I believe that passion is contagious—when a student sees how a dry section of the Contracts Act 1950 comes alive in a dispute I personally handled, something clicks. My ultimate goal is simple: to raise my students' results. But more than that, I want every law student I teach to walk away knowing how to apply the law in two places: first, in their exams, using proper IRAC structure and precise case application; and second, in real-life situations, whether they become practitioners, legal advisors, or policymakers. I am not here to just help you pass, I am here to help you think, write, and argue like a real lawyer.

My approach to tutoring law in Malaysia is Socratic, structured, and exam-driven, using the IRAC framework and active recall to ensure students apply Malaysian precedents and statutes (such as the Contracts Act 1950) rather than simply memorizing. A typical lesson lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, beginning with a quick-fire quiz, followed by interactive problem-based learning using past-year questions from local universities or CLP papers, and ending with a model answer review. I hold LL.M in University of Malaya, with 2 years of experience helping students raise their grades. My lessons are for A-Level/STPM law students (ages 17–19), LL.B students (years 1–3, ages 19–23), CLP candidates (ages 22–25+), and mature part-time learners (ages 25–45), covering all core subjects from Contract and Tort to Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, and Evidence.
