About Richard
"Graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Australian National Academy of Music shaped my view of technique. Basically, I spend my 9 years of teaching focusing on how hand independence and pedaling technique influence the sound. My students range from nervous beginners to grade-exam candidates who enjoy the process of improvement.
Posture and hand position are vital for comfort, while accompaniment skills and dynamics and expression add the necessary flair to any piece. It is genuinely fun watching someone grasp a complex concept for the first time."

"Pacing matters more than speed during our 8 sessions together, even if that sounds odd at first. I evaluate your progress with calm feedback so that you never feel rushed through the material.
Since I have a degree from the Australian National Academy of Music, I emphasize building a strong technical base. We will work on hand independence and posture to ensure your playing feels natural.
My 9 years of experience allow me to integrate pedaling and dynamics into our lessons seamlessly. I find it rewarding when a student finally captures the right expression in their performance. Exploring these musical elements at a steady rate makes the learning journey quite satisfying for both of us."
