About Heather
I have 10 years of experience teaching the piano and violin, and I love to share music with people.
I started learning to play the violin at 7 years old, and taught myself the piano and flute at home. At 14 I began piano and flute lessons, and achieved my grade 8 in both by the time I left school. I went on to study the piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and then a masters degree in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh. I now teach full time both privately and in schools, and enjoy inspiring young people to play the piano and violin.
I enjoy all types of music, and encourage my students to play lots of different styles. I particularly enjoy playing classical music, folk music, and music from films.

I provide fun and engaging lessons, tailoring the lesson to the students needs. I have prepared students for exams with ABRSM, Trinity, MTB and Rock School, but also teach just for fun too! In my lessons I cover: posture, listening, singing, rhythm, music theory, composition, technique, performance skills, improvisation, and musicality.
My main aim with all lessons is that the student enjoys music, and leaves wanting to play lots of music at home!
Lessons can be online or in person.

Cancellation policy: students music pay in full for any lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, OR can rearrange the lesson for later in that week (if it's not possible to rearrange, then the lesson must still be paid for).
