About Alex

I am a VCE Physics tutor with more than two years of experience teaching at one of Melbourne’s leading tuition centers, where I worked with dozens of senior secondary students in structured, results-focused environments.

I currently study Actuarial Studies at the University of Melbourne, a degree with a strong emphasis on mathematics, statistics, and analytical problem-solving. This background allows me to explain physics concepts clearly, rigorously, and from first principles, helping students build genuine understanding rather than relying on memorization.

My teaching style is structured, patient, and exam-focused. I aim to help students not only understand the content, but also develop the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to perform under assessment conditions.

About the lesson

My tutoring focuses on building deep understanding first, then developing the ability to apply that understanding confidently to exam-style questions.

I use a hybrid teaching model. New content is taught in one-on-one online sessions, where lessons are fully personalised and students are encouraged to ask questions and work through concepts at their own pace. Once the content is understood, students apply it in small group application sessions, where we focus on VCE-style problems, recommended methods, and common exam pitfalls.

This approach ensures students don’t just memorise formulas, but understand why they work and how to use them under exam conditions.

A typical program involves:

- 1 hour per week of one-on-one tutoring (content mastery)
- 1 hour per week of small group sessions (application and exam practice)

Lessons are structured, clear, and aligned with the VCAA study design. I provide guided explanations, worked examples, and targeted practice questions to suit each student’s level.

I tutor VCE Physics students (Units 1–4), typically Years 11 and 12. My lessons are suitable for students who want to strengthen their foundations, improve exam performance, or gain confidence in physics.
