About Jay

I’m an experienced Physics, Chemistry, and Biology tutor and a Maths and Philosophy graduate from the University of York with over five years of tutoring experience. I’ve worked with students of all abilities, helping them prepare for GCSE and A Level exams with confidence and clarity.

Science can sometimes feel abstract or overwhelming, so I focus on making complex ideas logical, engaging, and easy to understand. My lessons go beyond memorising facts — I help students develop real conceptual understanding by linking theory to everyday examples and practical problem-solving techniques.

My teaching style is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals. I aim to build both knowledge and confidence, so students can not only achieve top grades but also enjoy the process of learning science.

My lessons are designed to make science clear, logical, and enjoyable, helping each student build genuine understanding and confidence. Whether you’re aiming for top grades or need support grasping the fundamentals, I’ll adapt the pace and focus to suit your individual needs.

Each session begins by identifying any gaps in understanding and breaking complex ideas down into simple, structured steps. I use a mix of exam-style practice, visual explanations, and real-world examples to help students see how topics connect and apply in context.

I place strong emphasis on developing problem-solving skills — not just learning what to think, but how to think scientifically. Students learn effective revision strategies, exam technique, and how to approach challenging questions with confidence.
