About Ross

I have been playing and studying guitar since the age of 11, and what began as a childhood passion has grown into a lifelong career as both a professional musician and dedicated educator. Over the past decade, I have combined teaching with an active performing and recording career, giving me the privilege of experiencing music from many different angles.

As a guitarist, I have performed in a wide range of settings — from intimate gigs and weddings to large-scale festivals, corporate events, and theatre productions. My work as a session musician has taken me into the studio to record for a variety of artists across styles ranging from rock, pop, and funk to jazz and acoustic music. This breadth of experience has shaped me into a versatile, reliable, and creative player, equally at home on stage or in the studio.

Alongside performing, I have spent over 8 years working as a peripatetic guitar teacher within schools, music services, and privately. I currently hold leadership roles as Lead Teacher and Head of Popular Music within a local music service, mentoring both students and fellow teachers. Balancing performance with teaching allows me to pass on not just technical knowledge, but also insights from real-world experience in the music industry.

Music has been the centre of my life for as long as I can remember, and I feel fortunate to share that journey through both performance and education.

About the lesson

I teach students of all ages (currently ranging from 7 to 58) and all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. Over the years, I’ve developed my own structured syllabus to kick-start a student’s guitar journey, while also tailoring lessons to suit each individual’s goals and musical interests. Whether you’re working towards grade exams, building confidence as a performer, or simply learning the songs you love, lessons are designed to keep you inspired and progressing.

My teaching experience is broad and varied — from one-to-one lessons and group workshops to schools, colleges, SEND settings, care homes, and even special projects such as teaching for Arsenal Football Club. I currently serve as both Lead Teacher and Head of Popular Music within a local music service, which has allowed me to mentor hundreds of students across London.

Lesson structure is flexible:

Ages 7–11 typically start with 30-minute lessons.

Older students may benefit from 1-hour sessions, depending on their goals.

I usually teach at students’ homes, as I’ve found this creates a comfortable environment where progress flourishes. I currently have availability on Thursday afternoons/evenings in the Crouch End, Highgate, Archway area.
