About KEVIN

I am a retired nuclear engineer/Head of Physics & Head of Year 12 who teaches his Physics with an engineering 'flavour' in order to encourage students into engineering per se. I absolutely enjoy the unique aspects of every student and love their subsequent success.

About the lesson

I nearly always begin a topic by reference to real-life applications from the world of engineering and/or day to day machines. Once I have established how something works I then go to describe/define the actual Physics being used. I make as much use of pictures and graphs (when appropriate) or if a student is mathematically inclined I refer to equations. As much as possible I provide a 'customised service'. I will always 'change tack in my lesson should my approach not be working. I am super-sensitive to this as every student is an individual. Every lesson begins with an invitation for the student to pose recently occurring questions. This is always my priority. Extremely unusually, I offer a 24/7 contact option (always via Guardians' WhatsApp, email etc) where a student can ask questions literally at any time even International students. I guarantee to respond even if to say to wait an hour or two if I am super busy or indeed teaching online. You will simply not find such a service anywhere. I have operated this for decades and it can save students hours of wasted time.

I teach GCSE also and charge £45 ph face to face and online. I am extremely unusual in that I encourage 24/7 technical contact with students (always via their Guardians' (of course) WhatsApp, email etc). This works well for those who avail themselves of the service. In this way, value for money is totally guaranteed.
