About Joe
Hi, I am Joe! I graduated from Westlake Boys High School in 2024. I have 3 years of tutoring experience. I have taught students ranging from Year 3 to Year 12 across a variety of subjects. I have experience delivering one-on-one lessons, group lessons, and online tutoring. What makes me a good tutor is that I am reliable and relatable. Graduating from a school known for strong academics and excellence in NCEA/Scholarship, I have experienced many ups and downs, competition and opportunities. I understand what students go through and how to support them effectively. I enjoy sharing personal insights from both my academic journey and my non-academic experiences, giving students a well-rounded perspective on how to make the most of their time at school.

My approach to tutoring is student-centred and results-focused. I tailor each lesson to the student’s current level, learning style, and academic goals.
A main method that I strongly emphasise are concepts - ensuring concepts are clearly understood rather than memorised. I focus on building strong foundations first, then developing exam techniques, confidence, and independent study skills.
Lessons typically run for 1 to 1.5 hours. A usual lesson include reviewing key concepts, whats been taught in previous lessons, working through examples together, identify areas for improvement. I encourage active learning by asking guiding questions and explaining content in simple, relatable ways.
I also provide free advice beyond lessons by sharing study tips, motivation, and insights from my personal academic journey, helping students build both skills and confidence.
