About Rachel
I have always been someone who genuinely enjoys learning, asking questions, and understanding how things work. That curiosity led me to complete my degree at New York University, where I graduated with honors and developed a strong academic foundation across the humanities and sciences. My studies in child and adolescent mental health also deepened my understanding of how students think, grow, and build confidence over time.
Outside of tutoring, I am an organized, goal-oriented person who values consistency and clear communication. I believe professionalism means being punctual, prepared, responsive, and respectful of each student’s time and effort. I take pride in creating structured, thoughtful sessions while keeping the atmosphere encouraging and low-pressure. Students and families can expect reliability, patience, and genuine care in every interaction.
Personally, I love reading, writing, and continuous self-education. I’m always exploring new books, research, and teaching strategies to strengthen my own skills and stay current. I see learning as a lifelong process, and I bring that mindset into every session. My goal is to help students feel supported by someone who is not only knowledgeable, but steady, invested, and fully committed to their success.

My approach to tutoring is centered on confidence, curiosity, and connection. I believe learning works best when students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and think out loud. There are no wrong answers in my sessions—every mistake is simply information that helps us figure out the next step. Whether I’m working with a kindergartener learning phonics, a high school student writing an essay, or an adult returning to school, I focus on making material approachable and engaging.
I tailor every lesson to the individual. A typical session begins with a quick check-in and review of prior material to reinforce understanding. From there, we break down new concepts into manageable steps using clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive activities. For reading and writing, that might mean modeling strategies, reading together, or organizing ideas visually before drafting. For math or science, it often involves working through problems collaboratively and then building independence through practice. I close each lesson with reflection, encouragement, and a clear plan for next steps so students leave feeling capable and prepared.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet students where they are while gently challenging them to grow. With a background in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies and years of one-on-one tutoring experience, I understand that academic growth and emotional confidence go hand in hand. I work with elementary, middle, and high school students across subjects—including reading, writing, math, science, and history—as well as adults who want to strengthen foundational skills, improve writing, or build study strategies. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them become independent, motivated learners who feel proud of their progress.
