About Robert

Hi, I’m a dedicated and experienced maths tutor with a strong track record of helping students succeed from Key Stage 3 all the way through to A-Level. I’ve been a qualified maths teacher for seven years and have held leadership roles as both KS5 Leader and Head of Department in a large combined secondary school and sixth form. This experience has allowed me to develop schemes of learning and gain in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and assessment requirements across all secondary stages. My strong curriculum knowledge is supported by a degree in Mathematics. While I primarily teach the Edexcel GCSE and A-Level specifications, I’m also highly familiar with the subtle differences between exam boards, meaning I can offer tailored and effective support regardless of the specification your school follows. Over the years, I’ve built fantastic relationships with my students and helped many achieve key milestones - from securing a grade 4 or 5 on the Foundation course, to helping Higher-tier students achieve grade 8’s and 9’s. I’ve also supported the most able GCSE students through the OCR Level 3 Additional Maths (FSMQ) qualification via after-school classes. At A-Level, my students have consistently achieved strong results in both Maths and Further Maths, with many going on to study maths or maths-related degrees at university.

About the lesson

I believe the most effective maths lessons are built on clear, simple explanations (modelling), followed by carefully chosen practice questions that build confidence and deepen understanding. I focus on making each concept accessible and helping students consolidate their learning through guided practice and repetition.
