About Rukhsana

A hardworking, energetic, qualified and motivated teacher with extensive experience teaching Key Stage Three & Four core subjects such as Hisotry, Geography, R.E, Citizenship and PSHE, ESOL in Secondary Schools across Leicester. Worked closely with a variety of schools and orginsations such as Hamilton College, Gateway College, Leicester City College, After 18 and WEA, Humfrey Perkins over the last two academic years (Sept 2016-2018). Being part of a school has only confirmed the importance of valuing each student as an individual and creating as many learning opportunities and experiences for them as possible.
Working in many Secondary Schools has helped to develop good subject knowledge of KS3 & KS4 History, Geography, R.E, Citizenship, PSHE and ESOL and what makes effective teaching in classrooms. Especially, when it comes creating exciting resources for students and encouraging them to focus more clearly on task and take responsibility for their own learning. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build a rapport with pupils from all different ages and backgrounds. Easily, able to identify SEN and high attainers and provide clear structures for them whilst still maintaining pace, motivation and challenge in lessons. Confident and detailed planner who creates exciting and innovative lessons that enables students to achieve the best from their learning.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to base each lesson according to the GCSEs syllabuses and National Curriculum's expectations. Taught KS2, KS3 and KS4 English, Geography, History, Life Skills, PSHE, R.E. Ensured students at KS2 (year 6) were working at ATS or GDS level for Reading, Maths,Science and Writing which involved long term planning of lessons. Students were able to write effectively for range of purposes and audiences, selecting language, that showed a good awareness of the reader (e.g the use of the first person in a diary; direct address in instructions and persuasive writing). Pupils were successfully writing narratives, describing settings, characters and atmosphere, integrating dialogue to convey character and advance the action. Pupils were also able to use verb tenses consistently and a range of punctuation at Key Stage 2 correctly throughout their writing. Prepped and prepared year 6 for SATs this term.
