About Maribel

Hi! My name is Mari, and I’m an experienced teacher and ESL educator who is passionate about helping students build their English skills and, most importantly, their confidence.

I have experience working with students of different ages, backgrounds, and English proficiency levels. I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel challenging or intimidating, so I strive to make every lesson welcoming, supportive, and fun.

As a teacher, I am patient, encouraging, and creative. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and practicing without fear. I personalize my lessons to meet each student where they are and help them make steady progress toward their goals.

Whether your child needs support with reading, speaking, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, or overall English development, I would love the opportunity to help!

I believe that every student can learn, and sometimes they just need the right person to help them see that they can.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor

I believe learning English should be engaging, encouraging, and connected to each student’s individual needs and interests. As an experienced ESL teacher, I create personalized lessons that help students build confidence while developing their English skills.

My teaching methods and techniques:
I use a variety of strategies to make learning meaningful and accessible, including conversation practice, reading, phonics, vocabulary development, visual supports, questioning, modeling, repetition, and interactive activities. I also use sentence frames and scaffolding when needed to help students express their ideas independently. Most importantly, I create a comfortable environment where students feel safe making mistakes and trying new things.

A typical lesson:
Each lesson begins with a brief review or warm-up to activate prior knowledge. We then focus on the specific skill or goal for the lesson, whether that is speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, or grammar. I model the skill, practice it with the student, and then provide opportunities for the student to use it independently. I end each lesson with a quick review and feedback so the student knows what they have accomplished and what we will continue working on.

What sets me apart:
I am not just a tutor—I am an experienced educator who understands how students learn. I recognize that every learner is different, and I adjust my instruction based on the student's level, learning style, strengths, and areas for growth. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping students become confident English speakers and learners.

Who my lessons are for:
I work with English language learners and students who want to improve their English skills, including children, beginners, and students who need additional support with speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension. Lessons can be adapted to the student's age, English proficiency level, academic needs, and personal goals.

My goal is for every student to leave each lesson feeling more confident, more capable, and excited to keep learning English!
