About Caroline

I am friendly and non-judgemental, something I believe is important in a classroom environment as learning is about making mistakes and working through them.

I have six years of experience tutoring people of all different ages. Below is some of my work experience.

In my last two years of school (2015-2017), I helped with an Italian after school club, where the students were nine years old. I helped them individually if they found work difficult and also made sure they stuck to the assigned task.

During the same time, every Wednesday afternoon I helped at an ESOL class for Asylum Seekers. It was life changing experience that made me passionate about teaching and education.

From 2016 until the end of 2017, I tutored Higher Spanish and French students in my hometown of Glasgow. I would plan each lesson individually based on what each student found difficult. It was very rewarding seeing my students' confidence grow as they improved in the subject.

In 2016, I sat my SQA Higher exams, achieving A passes in Spanish, French, English, Modern Studies and Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies.

In 2017, I gained A passes in Higher Italian and Advanced Higher Spanish, achieving the highest mark in my year for an Advanced Higher Modern Language.

For six months from the start of 2018, I lived in Barcelona and taught English to children aged 7-13. It was character building having to navigate my way through an unknown city to get to different classes! During this time, I worked with individuals and groups, with different levels of English.

In 2018, I started studying Spanish, Italian and French at the University of Edinburgh. I studied French during my first year as an elective.

Between 2018-2020, I tutored Spanish in person to different students around Edinburgh. Understandably, this came to a halt with the COVID Pandemic.

2020-2021, I tutored English to KS3 level students on the platform MyTutor. I really enjoyed it but found there wasn't enough opportunities to teach other subjects.

About the lesson

I am an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced tutor. I prepare all my lessons to cater to each individual's learning style. The advantage of having an individual lesson is that we can really work on what the student struggles with, something I find very important and useful.

A lesson with me would typically last 50 minutes, but this could be extended if needs be.
