About Lisa

Hi, I'm Lisa, a 22-year-old tutor with a passion for teaching and helping students reach their full potential. In addition to my love for education, I have a variety of interests that make me a well-rounded person and a relatable teacher. Outside of tutoring, I'm an avid boxing enthusiast, a gym lover, and a fashion aficionado – so I’m always up for a great workout or experimenting with new styles! I also studied Biomedical Engineering at university, which means I have a strong background in problem-solving and critical thinking. I like to bring these skills into my lessons to help students think creatively and logically. I’ve always loved working with children, and whether you’re 4 or 16, I believe that every student has unique talents and strengths waiting to be unlocked. My approach to teaching is friendly, patient, and engaging, and I aim to make learning feel exciting and relevant. I know how important it is for kids to feel confident in what they’re learning, and I work hard to make sure each lesson is interactive and fun, so students never feel bored or overwhelmed. Why I Want to Teach: I became a tutor because I truly believe in the power of education to transform lives. I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand difficult concepts, and I know how rewarding it can be to watch someone grow and succeed. Teaching allows me to make a direct, positive impact on students, not just in their academic work, but also in building their self-confidence and enthusiasm for learning. I’m committed to creating a space where my students feel encouraged and supported, and where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow without judgement. In addition to English, I bring a unique perspective to tutoring – my experience in Biomedical Engineering means I love approaching problems from different angles and finding creative solutions. I think kids can really benefit from this kind of mindset, especially when they’re tackling tough subjects like English language and literature. I want to help students not just improve academically, but also develop critical thinking skills that will benefit them in all aspects of their lives. Whether it’s helping a 4-year-old discover the joy of reading or assisting a high school student with essay writing, I aim to inspire a love of learning in every student I teach.

As an experienced tutor with two years of teaching English, I offer tailored lessons that are designed to meet the unique needs of each student, whether they are in primary school or high school. My approach goes beyond just helping students understand English language and literature – it's about building their confidence, sparking their curiosity, and helping them develop a genuine love for learning. Individualised Attention: I recognise that each student learns differently. I take the time to understand their strengths, areas for improvement, and personal interests. This allows me to design lessons that resonate with them, making learning both enjoyable and effective. Engagement and Motivation: I believe that students do their best when they are engaged. I use a variety of teaching methods – from interactive discussions and creative writing exercises to real-world examples – to ensure my lessons are interesting and dynamic. Comprehensive Support: Whether your goal is to improve reading comprehension, excel in writing, or grasp complex literary analysis, I offer a comprehensive approach that covers all aspects of English language and literature. I focus on not just academic success but also the development of critical thinking and analytical skills. Building Confidence: Many students struggle with confidence in English. I work closely with each student to break down complex topics into manageable steps, encouraging progress and celebrating small achievements. My goal is to ensure that students feel confident and capable in their English abilities, no matter their starting point. Flexible Scheduling and Progress Tracking: I offer flexible lesson schedules and regular feedback on progress. I understand the importance of consistency and communication, so you can expect regular updates on how your child is doing and what goals we are working towards. With my supportive, personalised approach, your child will not only improve their English skills but also develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject.
