About James
I am an American born and raised in New York City. Growing up in a big city environment gave me the opportunity to meet many different kinds of people and experience numerous different cultures and cuisines. My upbringing gave birth to a strong desire to explore the world. I have lived in 7 different countries (currently residing in Tokyo, Japan) and plan to continue my travels for the foreseeable future. I really enjoy meeting new people and engaging with new students to share our unique perspectives.

I always believe that speaking practice is the key to improving your overall English fluency. In non-English speaking countries, it can be difficult to find opportunities to engage in English conversation. I always like to customize my lessons based on the goals of the student, for example, for students needing to improve their English for work, I try to focus on more formal speaking styles that would be more appropriate in a business environment. Or for students preparing for an exam, in addition to English language instruction, I try to include some specific strategies that will help to increase the chances of success in specific tests. Whatever your goals are I know I can help you reach them!
