About Mya

Hi! I'm an English & History student at the University of Bristol offering GCSE and A-Level English tutoring. With an A* in English A-Level and studying it at uni, I know exactly what examiners want—and I’m here to help you find your confidence, boost your skills, and get the grades you deserve!

About the lesson

I take a supportive, tailored approach to tutoring — no two students learn the same way, so I adapt my lessons to suit each individual’s needs, goals, and learning style. Together, we’ll focus on your specific areas for improvement, whether that’s analysing texts, structuring essays, developing creative writing skills, or mastering exam techniques. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, but I’m flexible and happy to adjust the length and frequency to fit your schedule and learning pace. I offer both online sessions and in-person lessons in Bristol, depending on what works best for you. I specialise in post-modern literature, Shakespeare, and poetry, and I’m comfortable adapting to different exam boards, with particular experience in AQA and Edexcel specifications. For A-Level students, I’m also more than happy to provide support with coursework. Each lesson combines clear explanations, practical exercises, and personalised feedback to help you steadily build skills and confidence. I use a variety of materials, including past exam papers, exam board specifications, and resources tailored specifically to your needs. I’m also happy to set homework or practice tasks between sessions to reinforce what we’ve covered and help you develop independent study skills. Throughout our tutoring journey, I’ll keep track of your progress and regularly check in to adjust our plan so we stay focused on your goals. My aim is not only to improve your grades but also to help you feel more confident and comfortable with English — whether that’s tackling tricky texts or expressing yourself clearly in essays. Communication is key, so I encourage questions and make sure you feel supported every step of the way. Whatever your starting point or goals, I’m here to help you reach your full potential.
