About Amanda
Hello! My name is Amanda, and I have more than 17 years of experience helping children learn, grow, and build confidence in themselves. As a current Head Start Lead Pre-K Teacher, I work every day with students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities, helping them develop strong foundations in reading, language, math, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including students with Autism and developmental delays. I understand that every child learns differently, which is why I take the time to get to know each student's strengths, challenges, and learning style. My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to help them feel confident, capable, and excited about learning.
Parents appreciate my patience, encouragement, and ability to build positive relationships with children. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. Whether a student needs help mastering foundational skills, preparing for school success, or gaining confidence in a challenging subject, I am committed to meeting them where they are and helping them reach their goals.
I hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, and am continuing my education toward completing my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. My professional experience includes classroom teaching, educational leadership, curriculum development, family engagement, and specialized support for students with diverse learning needs.
I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student. Every child deserves an educator who believes in their potential, and I am passionate about helping students discover just how much they are capable of achieving.

My approach as a tutor is centered on building confidence, creating meaningful connections, and adapting instruction to meet each student's unique learning needs. I believe every student is capable of success when they are given the right support, encouragement, and learning strategies. Rather than focusing solely on getting the correct answer, I help students understand the "why" behind concepts so they can develop critical thinking skills and become independent learners. I strive to create a positive, patient, and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
My teaching methods combine direct instruction, guided practice, interactive activities, and ongoing assessment. I frequently adjust my approach based on a student's learning style, strengths, and challenges. For younger learners, I incorporate visuals, games, hands-on activities, and real-world examples to make learning engaging and memorable. For older students, I focus on building foundational skills, problem-solving strategies, and confidence while encouraging active participation throughout the lesson.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previously learned material and a discussion of goals for the session. I then introduce new concepts using clear explanations, examples, and interactive activities. Throughout the lesson, I check for understanding, provide immediate feedback, and adjust instruction as needed. The session concludes with a review of key concepts, an opportunity for questions, and a discussion of next steps to reinforce learning and track progress.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my 17+ years of experience working with children of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. My experience includes supporting students with Autism, developmental delays, and varying academic needs, allowing me to create individualized learning experiences that help every student feel successful. In addition to my classroom experience, I have served in educational leadership roles, collaborated closely with families and specialists, and developed a deep understanding of child development and how students learn best. Parents and colleagues often describe me as patient, encouraging, dependable, and skilled at building strong relationships with children.
My lessons are best suited for Pre-K through elementary students, particularly those who need support in early literacy, reading readiness, phonics, foundational math skills, language development, school readiness, and social-emotional learning. I am especially passionate about helping struggling learners, students who need extra encouragement, and children who benefit from individualized instruction. My goal is to help every student build confidence, develop strong academic foundations, and discover that learning can be both successful and enjoyable.
