My teaching methods are blended - meaning I use a combination of pen and paper and electronic media to enhance student learning. For example, I have used Memrise to build lists of key terms and concepts and often use a document camera to show students HOW to do things like actively read a document or write an essay.
My teaching methodology can be summarized as follows: 1. establish understanding/needs, 2. teach skill, 3. practice skill, 4. reflect.
A typical lesson would begin by identifying student needs and current level of understanding in order to establish an objective for the lesson. I would then proceed to teach the student HOW to do what they need to do (e.g. write a structured paragraph) using a combination of templates and a document camera. Next, I would expect the student to practice the skill taught in order to establish their ability to achieve the objective of the lesson independently. Finally, I would ask the student to reflect upon what they've accomplished and what they are still unclear about to finish the lesson and determine next steps needed to improve.
