About Stephanie
I have been tutoring since the age of 14 and really enjoy working one-on-one and in small groups with students. I have a B.S. and Ph.D. in chemistry and have been tutoring/teaching general chemistry for 14 years. I have experience as a general chemistry instructor (both semesters of lecture and lab) at Penn State University (University Park). In Philadelphia, I have tutored students in-person from the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, and Jefferson University. Online, I have tutored students from all over the U.S., including Cornell University, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Cal Poly, among other universities and community colleges. I have also worked with high school students in AP chemistry, IB chemistry, honors chemistry and regular chemistry in several states across the U.S (Texas, Georgia, Alabama, New Jersey, Illinois, etc).

I love helping students learn and really understand the material. I make analogies and relate concepts to everyday life whenever possible. I have a sense of humor and always try to make learning fun. I love working one-on-one with students because I can see what concepts/topics are not understood and help build a strong foundation before moving on to harder topics. The structure of the lessons is whatever the student needs. I can teach the topic with diagrams and figures I have, and/or I can probe what "holes" there are in the student's content knowledge as we work through problems (and then go more in-depth with the topics). My method is adjustable to whatever the student needs and I adjust the method as I determine what works the best for each student.

I can only tutor students who are accessible by public transportation, and the cost of travel is based on how many transfers I need to make to reach the location.
