About Rasheed
I am a passionate educator with 14 years teaching experience in private and public secondary schools in Lagos. I am an IGCSE specialist and a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE). I have vast knowledge of the British and Nigerian Curricula. I am currently a Chemistry Tutor at the School of Foundation Studies, University of Lagos, Nigeria. Since 2013, I have been a STEM Instructor at the Lagos State Ministry of Education (Education District VI). Before then, I was a Chemistry/Physics at CTC International School, GRA Ikeja between 2009-2013.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Ilorin; a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, a Master of Education in Educational Management, all from the University of Lagos. I also hold a Professional Diploma in Risk, Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, Project and Sustainability Management from the QHSES Leadership Academy and an International Executive Diploma in Disaster Management from the La Plage Meta Verse.
I am a Certified Teacher with the Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN (Reg. Number : LA/S/31090) and a member of the following professional bodies: Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN); Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON); and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). Currently, I am the Project Coordinator for Chemistry Teachers' Association of Nigeria (CHETAN), Education District VI Chapter, Lagos State.
I have strong biases for learning by practice and for creating exciting connection between my classroom and the real world. My excellent communication, active listening and people's skills, good punctuality history and a track record of proven results, make me the kind of educator that your child/ward will get on with easily.
I am a volunteer with the Disaster Volunteer International, First Aid Services Nigeria, Boy's Scout of Nigeria, and the QHSES Leadership Network. I also organize webinars for students on different issues that adolescents are facing in the society such poor mental health, drug abuse, gender discrimination, cyber bullying, career choice dilemma, just to mention a few.

My teaching method is student-centered, interactive, supportive and transparent. I am popular for being able to vary my teaching styles to suit the learner's needs, background and abilities. I use simple language & real-life examples to explain complex concepts & theories. Instead of offering answers to my students, I help develop critical thinking skills, creativity skills, exam question answering techniques, and confidence in them, by asking probing questions during lessons. This fosters their love for Chemistry and makes them remember all topics, long after the examination has ended. My experiences at using different tools to facilitate my lessons, design effective assessment tests, monitor & evaluate students' progress regularly, give honest report and feedback to parents/guardians, are added bonuses.
