I'm a part of and experienced tutoring the neurodivergent community. I like teaching problems by demonstrating, assisting, and then verifying. First I show how to do a problem. Then I will watch a student perform a problem, offering suggestions as needed. Finally, I let the student solve a problem independently. This way, mastery and confidence is built.
