About Steff

Hi! I'm Steff, a British teacher currently living and teaching in Japan. I've been teaching for over 10 years, including 9 years specifically teaching English.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Education and have taught students of all ages, from very young children to adults. I really enjoy getting to know my students and finding ways to make lessons work for them, rather than expecting everyone to learn in exactly the same way.

I'm particularly passionate about helping students who don't always enjoy traditional classroom learning. I have experience supporting learners with different learning needs, and I like finding practical, creative ways to make learning less frustrating and more enjoyable.

Outside of teaching, I'm a huge animal lover and have three dogs, so you'll often find animals making their way into my teaching materials too! This is also part of the inspiration behind my Clear Sky English resources, where I combine English with subjects such as animals, nature and science.

I'm friendly, patient and easy to talk to, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying things out. Whether you're learning English for school, work, travel or simply because you want to, I'll do my best to make the lessons useful and enjoyable.

About the lesson

I'm a British English teacher with 9 years of English teaching experience and 10+ years of teaching experience overall. I teach children and adults of all levels, with lessons adapted to your goals, interests and learning style.

I don't rely on a textbook. I use a CEFR-based ESL curriculum with my own PowerPoint lessons, activities and resources, so lessons can be personalised while still following clear learning goals.

For children, I also offer optional STEM/STEAM activities through Clear Sky English, combining English with science, animals, nature, creativity and problem-solving.
