About Kehinde
I'm Kehinde, a dedicated biology educator with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Lagos State University, where I graduated with Second Class Honors Upper Division (4.03 CGPA). My journey through rigorous biological sciences training equipped me with deep knowledge across cellular biology, genetics, molecular mechanisms, and microbial systems—all subjects I'm passionate about teaching.
My Academic Foundation:
Throughout my undergraduate years, I immersed myself in comprehensive biology education. My coursework covered everything from foundational general biology to specialized topics like microbial metabolism, genetic engineering, immunology, and biochemistry. I didn't just study these subjects superficially—I engaged deeply, performed laboratory experiments, analyzed data, and developed true understanding of biological principles.
Research and Laboratory Experience:
My final year research project, "Microbial Assessment of Vended Fruits in Ojo Local Government Area," gave me hands-on research experience under my Professor supervision. I designed experiments, prepared various culture media (Salmonella Shigella agar, Nutrient Agar, Mannitol Salt Agar, MacConkey Agar, Potato Dextrose Agar), performed ten-fold serial dilutions, conducted Gram staining for bacterial identification, and executed numerous biochemical tests including catalase, indole, oxidase, coagulase, and sugar fermentation tests.
Additionally, I completed a three-month industrial attachment at The La Casera Company PLC, rotating through their Quality Assurance Department's microbiology laboratory. There, I performed microbial analysis on beverages, water, and raw materials using membrane filtration techniques and selective media for isolating yeasts, molds, coliform bacteria, and other microorganisms. This industrial experience bridged the gap between academic theory and real-world application.
Teaching Experience and Philosophy:
Education has been woven throughout my academic journey. I served as Chairman of the Academic Committee for the Nigerian Association of Microbiology Students at Lagos State University (2019-2020), where I organized tutorials for students from freshman through senior year. I understand the challenges biology students face because I've guided hundreds through those same struggles.
My teaching approach centers on clarity, patience, and genuine understanding. I remember struggling with certain concepts myself—like finally grasping how the electron transport chain generates ATP, or understanding the intricacies of gene regulation. These experiences make me a more empathetic teacher. I know where confusion typically arises, which analogies clarify difficult concepts, and how to explain the same idea multiple ways until it clicks.
Why I Love Teaching Biology:
Biology is the study of life itself—there's nothing more fundamentally fascinating. Every topic connects to real-world phenomena you can observe. When teaching cellular respiration, I relate it to why you breathe heavily after exercise. When explaining genetics, I discuss inherited traits students recognize in their own families. When covering microbiology, I connect to current events like antibiotic resistance or vaccine development.
This real-world relevance makes biology come alive. My goal isn't creating students who memorize terms for exams and forget them immediately. I aim to develop scientifically literate individuals who understand biological principles shaping our world—from pandemic responses to genetic therapies to ecological conservation.
My Teaching Strengths:
I excel at breaking down complex processes into manageable steps. Topics like DNA replication, the Krebs cycle, or meiosis can overwhelm students when presented all at once. I deconstruct these processes, explain each component clearly, then show how everything connects. I use visual aids extensively—diagrams, flowcharts, and analogies that make abstract concepts concrete.
I'm also skilled at exam preparation. I understand what questions commonly appear, which concepts require deep understanding versus simple memorization, and how to approach different question formats. Whether you're preparing for multiple choice exams, essay questions, or practical assessments, I'll help you develop effective strategies.
Continuous Learning:
As a Millennium Fellowship alumnus and participant in various academic programs, I value continuous growth. Biology evolves rapidly—new discoveries about CRISPR gene editing, microbiome research, and cellular mechanisms emerge regularly. I stay informed about current biological research, ensuring my teaching reflects modern scientific understanding, not outdated textbook information.
Who I Work Best With:
- Students genuinely wanting to understand biology, not just pass exams
- Learners who appreciate clear explanations and aren't afraid to ask questions
- Those preparing for important exams and needing focused, strategic preparation
- Curious minds who love discovering how life works at every level
- Anyone willing to put in effort while receiving patient, supportive guidance
Whether you're struggling with basic cell biology, preparing for AP exams, tackling challenging university coursework, or simply fascinated by how organisms function, I'm here to guide your learning journey with expertise, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for biology education.

Learning biology shouldn't feel like memorizing a textbook. My lessons transform complex biological concepts into understandable ideas through clear explanations, visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive discussions that help information stick long after our session ends.
How Our Sessions Work:
Each lesson typically runs 60-90 minutes, thoughtfully balancing concept explanation with practical application. I use diagrams, analogies, and step-by-step breakdowns to clarify challenging topics like cellular respiration, genetic inheritance patterns, or microbial metabolism. You're never just passively listening—I encourage questions, check your understanding frequently, and adjust my teaching pace to match your learning speed.
My Teaching Philosophy:
Biology becomes easier when you understand the "why" behind processes, not just memorize the "what." I connect concepts to real-life scenarios: Why do antibiotics stop working? How do vaccines train your immune system? What happens at the molecular level during DNA replication? This contextual approach helps you truly grasp material rather than cramming facts that disappear after exams.

Why My Teaching Approach Works:
I hold a BSc in Microbiology from Lagos State University with Second Class Honours Upper Division (4.03 CGPA). During my degree, I completed rigorous coursework in all the subjects I teach, performed extensive laboratory work including microscopy, bacterial culturing, biochemical testing, and fungal identification. My final year research project on microbial assessment gave me hands-on experience with scientific methodology and analysis.
Beyond textbook knowledge, I bring practical laboratory experience to our lessons. When explaining Gram staining, I've actually performed it hundreds of times. When discussing bacterial growth curves, I've cultured organisms and observed their phases. This practical background helps me explain not just theory, but real-world application.
I provide study resources, practice problems, exam preparation strategies, and concept review materials. Between sessions, I'm available for quick questions via message. My goal isn't just helping you pass exams—it's building genuine understanding that serves you in advanced courses and future careers.
