About Xi

Welcome to my profile! I see that you would like me to be your learning partner, but first, allow me to introduce myself and show you what I do! I am a PhD student and language tutoring is my passion. As a native Chinese (speak standard Chinese, certified) who speaks English and some French as well, I have been a part-time tutor since 2013 to all ages and am experienced in one-on-one teaching. Most of the students found my methods helpful because I deeply support learning with understanding. As an English and French learner myself, I know exactly the difficulties and inefficiency that students are facing, and I was able to lead them to take different angles. One of the successes that I am most proud of was to teach a little girl with mental disability to speak English, where extreme patience and adjusted methods were required. By the end of the tutoring, she could sing simple English songs and talk about her favorite food using simple sentences etc. The fact that more and more of my students happily learning and speaking Chinese/English gives me a strong confidence boost as I believe that with my knowledge and experience, I can help more people who love Chinese and want to learn it achieve their goals. About the lesson

I give private and group HSK1-HSK6 Chinese lessons. I am passionate, extremely patient, and not scary at all! My classes are interesting and interactive so don't be afraid to speak or make mistake since that is how we learn a new language!
There are six kinds of lessons: Conversation, Skills, Vocabulary, Reading, Writing, and Grammar, and you can choose one for each lesson. Let me know which one(s) you would like to focus on. For the very first class with you, we will talk about whatever you are interested in plus a small writing task (optional of course) so that I can have a rough idea and choose contents that fit your level.
During the class, I will go through the material with practicing and add some tips based on it. The best part of learning with me is that as a language learner myself, I know the difficulties and I can help you learn them with understanding, not by rote. Understanding why can give you the ability to reason out more as you learn more.
If you are interested and would like to try my methods, I will try my best to help you!
