About Luthais

Aside from my passions in science, I'm a well-rounded character that is there to listen and mentor students through their academic journey. Being raised in mainland Europe and well-traveled, I'm more than accustomed to integrating into different cultures and backgrounds. As a mentor, it's also my role to guide students through the journey as well as simply teach them how to pass.

I'm a friendly and approachable mathematics and physics tutor in the Dublin area. What sets me apart as a tutor is not only my academic pedigree and industry leadership but also my ability to connect with students at all levels and translate complex ideas into clear, understandable concepts. I approach every tutoring session with patience, structure, and a genuine passion for teaching. I’ve helped students achieve success across a range of educational stages—from secondary school learners sitting Leaving Certificate and A-Level exams, to university entrants preparing for challenging mathematics and physics entrance assessments, final degree examinations and PhD Viva. I’ve consistently guided students to reach and exceed their goals, often helping them secure places at top-tier universities or gain critical exam confidence they never thought possible. I understand how students learn, where they struggle, and how to build lasting understanding, skills that come from years of experience, both in the classroom and through one-on-one mentorship. My background sitting on exam board consultation panels in both Scotland and England gives me rare insight into how exams are structured and marked, which I use to help students develop strategies for top performance, even in application to the examinations in Ireland. Above all, I care about outcomes, not just academic ones, but personal growth too. I aim to inspire a genuine interest in math and physics, helping students build confidence, resilience, and independent thinking along the way. I believe that students are better placed in life from understanding the topic rather than just memorizing a set of rules to regurgitate at a later date. I hold two master’s degrees: one in Applied Mathematical Sciences and another in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (MSc by Research). I have also read for a PhD in Mathematics and a second in Theoretical Physics, which has equipped me with high-level technical knowledge, rigorous analytical thinking, and an ability to model real-world systems from first principles. Throughout my academic career, I’ve supervised undergraduate and postgraduate thesis and supported and examined on their Viva's at the University of Leicester, Heriot-Watt University, and the University of Oxford — mentoring students through some of the most demanding academic work in their fields. I’ve been actively involved in national education and science policy. I was elected Chair of the Institute of Physics (IOP) Mathematical & Theoretical Physics Committee and also serve on the Environmental Physics Committee, where I help shape national conversations on science education, research, and sustainability. My industry experience is equally rich. I’ve held the role of Chief Scientific Officer at one of the world’s most forward-thinking mathematical modeling and theoretical physics consultancy firms. My work has involved applying advanced mathematical and physical frameworks to real-world problems—bridging the gap between academic theory and practical impact. I have also received several prestigious fellowship awards in recognition of my scientific and professional contributions. From designing research-level models to helping students master their school syllabi, I bring a wealth of experience, a passion for teaching, and a deep understanding of what makes learning effective.
