About Gavindu
Hi! My name is Gavindu and I'm currently in my second year of an Integrated Masters in Computer Science with a year in industry, at the University of York! (It's a mouthful I know).
I have been tutoring for 3.5 years in Computer Science, helping at least 50 students achieve the grades they desire!
Computer science can be a difficult subject at times but due to my long tutoring career (and the fact I was in your shoes not too long ago), I'm able to explain even the toughest concepts in a way everyone can understand.
As for my grades, I've achieved a 1st Class in my first year, even achieving the top grade in the cohort on 2 of my modules! I ended up with an A* in Computer Science and getting 73/75 in the NEA (coursework) which I have helped a lot of students complete to a high standard. For my GCSEs I got 9's in Computer Science, Maths, all Sciences and more.

My tutoring style varies depending on the needs of the student and what they want to gain from the lessons. The lessons themselves are very flexible, with most students opting to provide a topic to go through at the start of the lesson, and continue with it throughout the session.
A "normal" session will of course differ student to student and topic to topic, but essentially it will start with me introducing the topic, explaining some key words and context behind it. Afterwards, I'll explain the topic fully, and go through practice questions together with the student to make sure they undestand the topic. Towards the end, the student will answer some past paper topic questions.
This is a general structure and will completely change for more practical topics such as programming and NEA support.
