About Kate
I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Oregon in 2023. I am currently employed as an Imaging Systems Engineer with a start-up here in Portland, OR. I have been tutoring Calculus and Physics on the side since August 2023. While working on my Physics degree I engaged in Observational Astronomy research at Pine Mountain Observatory focusing on transiting exoplanets. My degree required study and use of math in a wide range of topics (from Special Relativity, to Statistical Mechanics, to Quantum Mechanics) with a particularly extensive use of calculus and linear algebra. My favorite physics subject is Space Physics, and my favorite math subject is Linear Algebra!

Personalization is the name of the game, so no two lesson plans will look the same! I follow a guide that was helpful during my studies, but I will always customize as needed: 1. Concept Review: A big picture outline, focusing on pieces that need extra help. 2. Examples Together: Working through example problems together to build a workflow and intuition, as well as space to ask clarifying questions. 3. Examples Apart: Once the student is ready, solving examples separately and comparing solutions, as well as learning from our mistakes. 4. Homework or Exam Prep: Using the skills and workflow we built to tackle homework or to prepare for an exam with confidence!
