About Shannon
Hi, I’m Shannon – an experienced and approachable tutor with a strong academic background and a real passion for helping students feel confident in science and maths. I hold a BA in Biomedical Science from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Alongside tutoring, I work in public health and medical writing, roles that involve breaking down complex scientific data—skills I bring into my lessons to make tricky topics more accessible. I’m also a long-time volunteer with organisations like Shelter from the Storm and Alopecia UK, which has shaped my empathetic and patient teaching style. I've been tutoring GCSE and A-level biology, chemistry, maths, and general science for over five years, including three years as a Premium Tutor on MyTutor. In that time, I’ve worked with a wide range of students—from those aiming for top grades to others who needed help building confidence in the foundations. I’ve delivered over 250 one-to-one sessions online, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and adapting my teaching approach to suit each student's pace and goals. I’ve also worked closely with parents and guardians to track progress and provide regular feedback.
