About Sally

I’m a native English speaker with a soft Scottish accent that is clear and easy to understand. I speak naturally and can help you become more comfortable listening to and using English in everyday conversations.

I'm TEFL and CELTA qualified and I'm experienced. I have taught ESOL to learners at different levels, from beginners through to more advanced learners in Spain and Scotland.

My lessons are relaxed, supportive and practical, with a focus on helping you feel more confident speaking English in real-life situations.

Whether you want to practise conversation, improve your vocabulary or simply have more opportunities to speak English, I’ll adapt the lessons to your level and what you want to achieve.

My aim is to create a comfortable space where you can speak, make mistakes, ask questions and build confidence naturally.

About the lesson

My approach is relaxed, practical and learner-centred.
I give adult ESOL learners time to speak, listen and build confidence through natural conversation.
Lessons are adapted to the learner's level, needs and interests. As well as general conversation we can work on specific goals.

I will plan the lesson content in advance allowing for flexibility.
I will provide materials that support the subject and make the lesson fun and rewarding.
I will identify areas to work on in future lessons.

Error correction - during the lesson I will provide gentle correction and useful vocabulary and phrases without interrupting the flow of conversation too much.

Lessons are typically 45 minutes and take place online. This includes general conversation warm up, specific subjects to meet learners goals and consolidation and support materials.

I have extensive experience teaching adult ESOL learners through one-to-one sessions, single-level groups and mixed-level classes. I have taught learners from pre-literacy through to National qualifications and have experience adapting lessons and resources to different levels and learning needs.

My lessons are for adult ESOL learners, particularly those who want to improve their spoken English, practise conversation and become more confident communicating in everyday situations and within their specialist subject.
