About Maddie

English is my first language.

I really enjoy helping students gain confidence in subjects that they might otherwise find difficult. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching to suit the individual rather than expecting everyone to learn the same way. My goal isn't just to help students get the right answer, it's to help them understand why it's the right answer so they can solve similar problems independently.

Having recently completed my Bachelor of Commerce and now working as an Accountant, I understand the challenges that both NCEA and university students face because I was in their position not long ago. During university, I saw many students struggle with accounting and finance, often because the concepts weren't explained in a way that suited their learning style.

One subject I particularly enjoy tutoring is commercial law. Throughout university, I consistently achieved high grades in my law papers because I developed a simple way of breaking down legal problems into clear, logical steps. Once students understand how to approach legal questions, they often find the subject becomes much less overwhelming.

I also know from personal experience how important the right support can be. I deferred my first finance exam because I didn't feel I had a solid understanding of the material. The following year, after changing the way I approached the subject, I achieved an A+. That experience taught me that success isn't just about working harder—it's about finding a way of learning that makes sense to you.

My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, whether that's building a strong understanding of course material throughout the semester or providing more intensive support during exam periods. During exam preparation, we work through revision material, practice exam questions, and model answers to build confidence and develop effective exam techniques.

Lessons can be held at your home, online or in a public place being a school/uni library or cafe.
