Lucy got an A in her GCSE Maths exams with Vishal’s tutoring. He was very methodical and was happy to explain concepts in different ways in order for my daughter to fully understand the content. His patience and sound exam advice from the first lesson onwards helped Lucy achieve the A grade that she wanted - Hannah M

Keval was struggling with his Maths, English and non-verbal reasoning. These were the main exams that he would have to take in order to gain admittance into our choice of grammar school (Wallington Boys, Wilson's and Whitgift). We knew the competition was fierce for these schools, but decided to go ahead with tuition session with Vishal due to his exceptionally high pass rates for his 11+ students. Within the first session, we knew we had picked the perfect tutor for our son. Not only was Vishal patient, but his ability to make the lesson interesting and engage with our son, meant that Keval actually looked forward to his lessons with Vishal on a weekly basis. We have never had a tutor who went the extra mile and goes beyond what is expected, but this changed when Vishal arrived. He doesn’t just get up and leave after the session is up. He is happy to provide feedback and explain what was taught in the lesson and what Keval still needs to work on moving forward. In the end, Keval gained admittance to all 3 grammar schools of our choice and we picked Wallington Boys as our choice. I would not hesitate to recommend Vishal for any children who are going for their 11+ exams - Keval P

Vishal has been working with my daughter for approximately 5 weeks prior to her year 8 exams. He has all the qualities you require from a great maths tutor: patient, calm, encouraging, motivating and not to mention making some of the difficult topics bit size and manageable. Would definitely request his help again in the future - Sharlene H

Vishal tutored my daughter from September 2016 until June 2017 and covered both GCSE English Language and English Literature with my daughter. We ended up choosing Vishal because he was clear from the outset - he told us what level our daughter was at, where she should be at for her age and put together a plan to make sure she achieved her true potential. We were expecting our daughter to achieve 2 B's as a minimum. To find out on results day that she achieved an A in both English Language and English Literature was a welcome surprise. If you are looking for a professional tutor with the ability to motivate, teach and ultimately improve your child's grades, then Vishal is THE tutor for you - Gemma D

Professional and articulate tutor with extensive knowledge in GCSE Biology. Chemistry and Physics - Lisa D

1) The underlying fаctоr fоr my success lies in my ability tо adapt my teаching style аccоrding tо the needs of each individual student

2) I prоvide prаcticаl аnd lively exаmples tо explаin cоncepts in Mаths, English аnd Science

3) I guide my students tоwаrds оbtаining cоrrect аnswers with а series оf well-plаced questiоns

4) I аm very pаtient аnd endeаvоur tо remоve the аbstrаctiоn in mаthemаticаl cоncepts thrоugh simplificаtiоn оf seemingly cоmplex prоcedures

5) I аm а strоng believer in building а gооd working relаtiоnship with my students

6) I tend tо fоcus оn hаrder exаm questiоns eаrly оn sо thаt students аre nоt оverwhelmed with them neаrer tо exаm time

7) I provide students with visuаl representаtiоns in science which has wоrked wоnders in estаblishing their cоncepts

8) One of the key differentiating factors between myself and other tutors, who I greatly respect, is that I am highly invested in ensuring your child/children do well. This is why my tutoring services are not limited to just the tutoring lesson. If you or your son/daughter has a question outside of tutoring hours, this is not a problem for me. For example, I have had parents call me at 11pm the day before their son’s GCSE exams asking for advice, and I have been happy to take that call and provide assistance. I have also had parents/students struggle when choosing the best college/university to apply to, and using my knowledge and experience, I have advised accordingly. I have also used my contacts within schools/universities to help students with key tips for upcoming exams.

9) I provide students with efficient methods of doing questions to save time during time-pressured exams

10) Most importantly, I place the same amount of importance on your child's education, as you do on your child's education

I am a full-time Private Tutor, thus my priority is helping children to learn and progress, via teaching and providing them with the necessary skills and confidence. Therefore you can be assured that all my attention and focus is on helping your child learn, progress and achieve their true potential.

The most important question from the parents' perspective should be: ‘What motivates a tutor?’ My answer for this is simple – I enjoy teaching because it is great to see 'that light bulb' moment when the student suddenly understands a topic and becomes confident about the topic and subject. This confidence and desire to learn is then transferred to other parts of their life. I have had many students who have disliked a particular subject, but my teaching methods have not only resulted in outstanding grades, but these students have gone to university to study the same subjects that they thought were ‘boring’ or ‘too hard’ only a few years ago. I am confident that with my knowledge, exam techniques and ability to explain a range of topics in different ways to suit different learning styles, brings out students’ true potential.

FAQs

"How do I, as a parent, pick the right tutor/education consultant?"

Do your research. Don’t hesitate to ask for CVs, references, DBS checks, as well as checking the reviews from previous and current clients. I always advise parents to read reviews. I have over 80 5* reviews from parents across the range of subjects that I teach.

"Is your hourly rate fixed?"

No, it is negotiable. I set the hourly rate for each client, depending on the nature of the work, number of hours per week etc.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    Around 18 years ago
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Maths, English, Science, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning to children from the ages of 5 to 18. I specialise in preparing children for entrance exams for the top independent and grammar schools in London and the UK. I also help prepare children for interviews held as part of the 7+, 8+, 10+, 11+, 13+ and 16+ application process. I enjoy teaching all the subjects mentioned but have a great passion for creative writing and a range of interesting comprehension papers that leads to the 'light bulb' moment for my students!
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My role models include my family members who have worked very hard to provide the best for me.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Kind, friendly and a desire to have a positive and long-lasting impact on a child by enhancing their confidence and knowledge.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

If you believe in yourself and work hard anything is possible!
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The biggest challenge for me is being a perfectionist. However, as the years have gone by, I have realised that no one is perfect and life is a continuous journey in which we can always improve ourselves.
