About Tim

I am a dedicated, warm and highly experienced English tutor with a first class Oxford degree in English Language and Literature and an Eton Scholarship. I have 15 years’ experience teaching all stages, optimising students’ results and helping them to build their self-confidence in a subject I love. I teach 7+, 11+, 13+, 16+ GCSE, A Level, University and Oxbridge applications, as well as university-level essays and English as a Foreign Language. I also tutor drama and drama school entry, being a professional director who teaches at some of the best drama schools in the world. About the lesson

I have 17 years of experience as an educator and consultant. My areas of expertise are interview preparation, examination and coursework, and English as a foreign language. I have a calm and engaging approach and believe in teaching through kindness, patience and a step-by-step approach. One of the most important aspects in my view is confidence. I build knowledge and confidence simultaneously and this has led to success over the last 20 years. We are all unique, and I tailor my lessons entirely to the needs of the individual. English is a subject I passionately enjoy, as I am a writer myself, so my approach is about sharing that enjoyment with students, helping them on a personal journey to connect with literature and engage it with a critical eye. In my experience far more is learnt through enjoyment than any other means and the best self-expression tends to follow too. I have previously worked for many of the top agencies as well as freelancing. My previous clients include high net worth individuals in the UK and internationally.
