About Clément

I am a Bachelor of Communications Systems student at EPFL in Lausanne, but I come from France where I studied at the Georges Dumézil high school in Vernon, near Paris. I obtained a scientific baccalaureate degree with the highest honors, the "Très Bien" mention.

I gave classes to students at my old high school last year to catch up on the baccalaureate, and all of the students I took in earned between 5 and 10 out of 20 points on their math grade. I am often told that I have a good understanding of scientific concepts, whether in mathematics, computer science, physics-chemistry, or even in English and French.
I have been used since I was very young to explain concepts that I more quickly understood to my classmates, which is why now I show a good pedagogy and patience when it comes to make a student understand a subject.

The fact that I am a young adult also helps the student to easily establish a bond of trust and serenity with me: I am socially comfortable and attentive, and I am often happy to help in all fields of daily life.

At EPFL, I am part of the student association of the Faculty of Computer Science and Communications, CLIC. I am also a member of EPFL Coaching. EPFL Coaching is an association of 2nd year students who help first-year studentsse to integrate more easily into a new environment, something that can sometimes be complicated for some. That is our role to support them, listen to them, and to provide both psychological and material help when needed.

About the lesson

It has been proved that students don't have the same methods and ease of learning, which is why my teaching method is flexible. It can be both structured and free depending on the sessions and the needs of the student.

A typical course takes place as follows:

- I discuss a little with the student to identify where he has difficulties
- I then explain the misunderstood concept with clear explanations, drawings sometimes, and especially examples to solidify understanding.
- I then give the student exercises of increasing difficulty and especially adapted to its level, while demanding a rigor in the answer and a justification: this is generally where the magic happens!

As a teacher, I am a pedagogue but especially very patient and dedicated when it comes to passing on my knowledge. I try to put students at ease to establish a relationship of trust, much more conducive to progression than a standard teacher-to-student relationship.

I can give private lessons for all classes of the 3rd (CP in France), the preparation of Swiss maturity or French Baccalaureate!
I will just need a few days before the first session a clear overview of the program of the class in which the student is.

Details

I set my rates at the teaching-assistant rate (27 .-), with just a small supplement if needed to finance transportation to and from Lausanne and its surroundings.

Rate will be however negotiable, depending on the number of hours, reductions will be possible.
