About Gus
I have been tutoring English for a year to students -- from Year 6 to Year 9 -- focusing on mainly vocabulary, some grammar/spelling/construction, comprehension and creative writing skills generally.
I have also mentored and led Cambridge supervision-style classes -- to year 10 and Sixth Form students - as part of duties comprising a Cambridge theatrical tour of international schools in Japan, South Korea and China.
I live in Islington, London. Have just graduated with a First in English from Trinity College, Cambridge; am currently pursuing individual writing and theatre projects as well as private tutoring, and freelance research and and writing for a couple of startup projects and a personal writing project.
I really enjoy trying to individualise lessons for the student's specific needs and so will also try to stoke a personal interest and response to material studied, as I believe this makes for a much more enjoyable and painless process of learning. I imbibe all forms of literature and so am always keen to recommend or discuss specific books or authors of possible help or interest to students or parents.
I can also help with general essay-structuring/researching/writing skills in subjects not related to English, or for extended projects of another description.
I'm very happy to make teaching as flexible or wide-ranging as possible.
